This series is really dark, it starts with Superman finding out that Lois Lane is pregnant and Joker uses kryptonite in Scarecrow's venom to make Superman think that Lois is Doomsday which leads to him sending her into space-when her heart stops, she detonates a missile that blows up all of Metropolis; this kills 5 million people of Superman's home. He and Batman choose different sides of a war on war. Superman calls for a world-wide cease fire but forces politicians and world leaders into listening to him. He teams up with Wonder Woman and the two seem more like dictators rather than trying to help. Batman wants to help Superman and allow him to grieve, but he can't while Superman and Wonder Woman are doing more bad than good. Batman must get a group of superheroes to help fight against Superman and his team.
This storyline takes place BEFORE the Injustice game, and as someone has not played the game nor kept up with the comics, I was a little lost, but with some context clues, it wasn't hard to follow. My only problem was with the heroes that I was less familiar with. At one point, it shows Batman's son being killed, but in my ignorance, I did not know that Batman had a son, so that was hard to follow. If you're into dark superheroes and a much more mature story line than the movies we've grown up with, this was agreat graphic novel to read. Definitely not for children.
