Little Voice needs to shut up.

"I can't do this.
No one cares what I have to say.
Who am I to try to share what I know?
Why do I think I'm important?"

Um.
Because you are.
Because you have something to say.
And you deserve to be heard.
Your thoughts are worthy of being shared.

You are important.
Your voice was given to you
for this reason.
Why keep quiet?

Someone could learn from you.

Poetry Month 2018 Day 1

Im gonna try and stick to this this month but no promises. I’m not the biggest fan of poetry so writing it is a challenge, but hey, that’s how we grow, right? AND this will help me practice for my creative writing class; we are currently in our poetry unit and my poems could use some help. Keep in mind that these are drafts, I’m gonna do my best.

April 1

My family is a mess.
Scattered over the country.
From Detroit to NewYork to Georgia to Austin.
All the way down to Mexico.
Brunettes.
Blondes.
Fake Gingers.
Salt and Peppers.
Even some baldies.
We speak Spanish and English and Tex-Mex.
We fight and bicker and poke and tease.
And hug and cry and laugh.
We’ve got A principal, an airman, a PA, a librarian,
a nurse, a social worker, a deacon, an engineer,
but most of all-
we have each other.

Jason Reyonolds named as the spokesperson for School Library Month!

“It’s impossible for me to talk about the importance of the school library without talking about the school librarian,” said Reynolds. “In full disclosure, the library wasn’t a place I frequented in school, but if I were in school today I’d practically live there, because there’s a good chance the coolest person in the building works where the books are. Not only can the school librarian help to curate a comfortable and welcoming space for all students, not only can they usher them to a vast array of books and reference materials, librarians also usually have the ability to connect with students on a personal level, because, well, they’ve read the most stories, which makes their potential for empathy and openness ceiling-less.”
